In Q2 2023, the top 5 film and television apps on the Android platform in Kenya saw varying trends in downloads and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.

Netflix experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at 52.3K in the week of May 1. The app also saw a significant decline in downloads mid-May, reaching a low of 15.5K in early June before rebounding to 34.5K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 429K and 509K throughout the quarter.

Airtel TV saw a notable increase in weekly downloads, peaking at 24.3K in the week of May 1. However, downloads dropped to a low of 4.5K by late May before slightly recovering to 6.2K by the end of June. Weekly active users followed a similar pattern, with a peak of 30.3K users in early May, gradually decreasing to 14.2K by the end of the quarter.

Showmax 1.0 maintained a steady download rate, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter. Downloads peaked at 11.1K in late April and declined to 4K in early June before increasing to 6.6K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users showed a slight downward trend, starting at 151.5K and ending at 124.5K.

StarTimes ON-Live TV, Football experienced a steady decline in weekly downloads, starting at 5.7K in early April and dropping to 2.5K by mid-June. The number of active users also decreased, from 17.8K in late April to 10.4K by the end of June.

Viusasa had relatively stable weekly downloads, peaking at 5.9K in late May and maintaining around 4.5K by the end of June. Active users fluctuated slightly, peaking at 40.5K in early June and decreasing to 36.2K by the end of the quarter.
